USA : inégalités et ségrégations

Once upon a time in a faraway ocean lived a young and gorgeous mermaid called Ariel. She was  sweet and had a beautiful singing voice. However Ariel was not happy because she always wanted to be a real human.She promised herself that when she will grow up , she will become human and live on dry land.

One day, she came home from school with her classmates, with anger , she shouted:

«Look at all this debris, how dirty our town is, we can't even swim anymore. I can no longer live in these conditions !I wouldn't age in this place ! No way ! I will live n dry land with my legs, I will walk and live with humans ! I'll go see Darknessya ,the mermaid of darkness! With her powers she'll probably help me !

-No ! Said Octupia

-She's very vicious ! You'll have to pay her with something! And it always ends badly ! Replied Fishia

- Whatever I will do it !»

A few days later, Ariel was 16 years old. Thinking she was grown enough, she left her house and soon arrived at Darknessya's house and knocked.

«Oh..  Come in! What can I do for you? Asked Darknessya.

- I want to go on land , to be human, have beautiful legs and walk like them... But I can't do it I don't have any magic power I just sing but that's no magic.. Help me please... replied Ariel

-I can help you but... as you can imagine, it's not free... You have to pay..

- What a fool I am, I have what you need!»

She took a pocket of 1000 gold pieces out of her bag and gave them to the mermaid of darkness.

Darknessya took the pocket and said : «Thank you.. But..it's not enough.. You told me earlier that you could sing, didn't you? I want to sing too..

- If I understand correctly, you want my.. asked Ariel

- Exactly! So we have a deal?

Ariel accepted the exchange.

- Perfect ! She casted a spell.

Ariel tries to sing, but an awful voice came out of her mouth.

-Now, let’s make your dream come true». Darknessya cast a second spell and Ariel disapeared.

When she came to her senses, she was horrified , the place she was extremely polluted with a very unpleasant smell. She didn't know where and decided to ask a passer-by for help.

« Excuse me, sir? She said

-What? I don't have any money to give you! Go away!»He shouted.

She tries to attract the attention by singing but remembered that she sold her voice to Darknessya . More and more worried she started sobbing.

An old lady approached her and said:

«Are you lost?

- Yes, My name is Ariel...

-Nice to meet you, I'm Catherine.

-Where are we ? There is a lot of debris everywhere, it's not clean, and it doesn't smell very good. Asked Ariel

-We're in town, sugar.Our land is very polluted.. So much waste..  The ocean itself is invaded by it... and this is our fault... We are the one, who throwing debris in the ocean.. that's why it is polluted» Replied Catherine

She then realized that she really was on dry land. It was humans... the ones she loved so much that destroyed her environment. Horrified by what she had just heard, Ariel could not bear the news and died.
