1. Your task for the semi final


For the semi-final, you will prepare a
15-minute Power-point presentation including the following:

1.1. Summary of your idea

1.2. Your marketing & sales strategy

1.1. Summary of your idea:

Please describe the following:

  • Your vision of life in 2050
  • Your expected trends, market needs and business opportunities in 2050
  • Your  innovative product or technology for a Henkel brand in 2050
  • The sustainable advantage, by considering the Henkel sustainability strategy and focus on the following questions:
  • How to increase the value in the area of Performance?
  • How to increase the value in the area of Safety and Health?
  • How to reduce the resources we use and hence the ecological footprint of operations and products?
  • Min 1 area to be selected out of Material and Waste or Energy and Climate or Water and Wastewater.        

  • There is no limitation to the number of areas and hotspots that can be selected.        
  • Look at the matrix below and think along the value chain!

1.2. Your marketing & sales strategy 

Please develop the marketing & sales strategy with ideas how to launch and promote your product or technology. This does not include a quatitative plan, any figures or financials!

The following needs to be included in your strategy:

  • How to launch and communicate/promote the new product or technology?
  • How to use sustainability-related aspects as selling arguments for customers/consumers?
  • The strategy will be explained by means of the marketing mix concept
  • Product
  • Price
  • Place
  • Promotion

 

Further remarks:

  • You are free to include any creative concepts to your presentations (movies, costumes, music etc.) but do not forget that your presentation time is limited to 15 minutes.
  • The presentation is followed by a 5 minutes question & answer session.

2. HIC 8 evaluation criteria

As you may have read before, creativity, analytical skills, communication and presentation skills, teamwork and team spirit are all very important for Henkel employees, and therefore also for HIC participants! During the semi final, the jury will select the winning team for the international final, according to the evaluation criteria listed below.

5.   Driving change & innovation

Creativity: creates vision and has a clear focus on innovation. Questions status quo. Develops new approaches, presents unique ideas. Presents the idea in an original way.

6.   Convincing & influencing

Communicates the concept convincingly enough for the audience to be willing to invest in development and commercialization of the new idea. Presents in a structured way and full of energy.
