Hello,
Today we are going to present Unicef.
First, we are going to talk about wat is Unicef. Secondly, about Unicef’s missions. Thirdly, about Unicef’s structures. Fourthly, about fundraising of Unicef.
Unicef or the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is a United Nations programme headquartered in New York City that provides humanitarian an developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. Unicef protect the rights of every child. It spent 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families
It was created on 11 December 1946 by the United Nations General Assembly, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II.
What does the Unicef’s logo mean ?
The use of blue stands for approachability,prosperity and grace of the organization, whereas the white color depicts nobility, peace and purity.
Now, I’m going to talk about Unicef’s missions.
Unicef gave itself objectives :
- The education of girls :
This’s an effective tool to improve the living conditions of all. The education of young women has spectacular effects on the present and futur generation .
- The vaccination :
It has important effects on the improvements of the health in the world during the 20 years.
- The protection of child :
Uncef created protective environments for children to relieve suffering during emergencies and wherever children are threatened, because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation
- The equality between men and women :
Unicef upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It works to assure equality for those who are discriminated against, girls and women in particular.
- The newborn health
Unicef makes every effort so that the newborn are born in the best conditions.
Now, I’m going to talk about the structures of Unicef. It works in over 190 countries and territories.
There are more than 200 country offices and Unicef headquarters in New York.
Every office of country have the mission of the Unicef through the government of the host country.
The activity of the Unicef is overseen and followed by a Board of directors of 36 members, who represent their respective governments for a term of 3 years.
Executive director has a six-year mandate. Recently is Anthony Lake since 2010.
Finally, I’m going to talk about fundraising of Unicef. There are a lot of fundraising but I chose some exemples :
- The sponsorship
For example : In 2006, the club FC Barcelona donated 1,5 million euros per year to the organization for five year. As part of the agreement the club will wear the Unicef’s Logo.
- The Triek-or-Treat Unicef box
Since 1950, when a group of children in Philadelphia donated $17 which they received on Halloween to help post-world II victims, The Triek-or Treat Unicef box has become a traditional in North America during the Fall.
