I’m going to present you the Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge located in State of California(United State of America). It connects the city of San Francisco and the city of Sausalito

The construction started in january 1933 and finished in april 1937.

It is 2,737m long and 250m tall.

Requires 20 000L of paint each year.

The bridge is called the Golden Gate Bridge simply because it crosses the Golden Gate Strait.

GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE: ACROSS THE TIME:

-At the time many people did not believe it was technically possible to cross the Golden Gate strait. Because currents were very strong and water very deep.

-But despite the opposition, Joseph Strauss(engineer) was able to find sufficient support and finances to go ahead with the project.

-The dimensions of the bridge defied all imagination. The bridge was technically impressive. Almost 3,000m length….two towers of 250m, 67m above the sea level. It took thousands of workers, four years and 35 million dollars to build the structure.

-When the bridge was completed, it was the world's longest and tallest suspension bridge. A record that last until 1964.

-That’s why it has been used in a variety of media, movies, documentaries, video game and inspired musical works.  Also, a lot of artists are attracted to paint, draw or photograph the bridge. Don’t you know that a replica of the bridge was built to shoot scenes for cinema?.

-Today, the Golden Gate Bridge is always popular…and even more.[pic 7]

-More 40million cars per year cross it. More than 10 million people visit the Golden Gate Bridge each year. We come from all over the world, everyone wants to see the bridge….not cross it, just see it.
