How do these three documents describe a world of facial recognition?
First, we will study the advantages and drawbacks of new technologies and then we will see the kind of society that the 3 documents describe.
The first document describes what facial recognition is in the world, the text says that the uses that countries like China and Russia make of it is an abusive use because these countries use it to monitor the smallest actions and gestures of their inhabitants.
The second document deals with the fact that facial recognition is a good thing to recognize crime suspects and shows the "good sides" of facial recognition.
The last document can be scary because it be aware and realize that anyone can be recognized by a computer and that people we don't know have personal information about us.
The 3 documents are connected by the fact that they convey the idea that we live in a society of technologies that go beyond what we can imagine. You could almost say that some countries live in dystopia, in a world in which our face, our facial expressions and our feelings influence the advertisements we see; people can determine our level of concentration on a subject as in document B which deals with cameras that observe students to see if they are paying attention in class.
The 3 documents are related to dystopia because they talk about the world in which we live, which is a world in which certain countries monitor and scrutinizing their citizens. Even if in some cases, such as the fact that the advertisement on a bulletin board changes according to our feelings, it is not really dangerous, it remains surveillance, on the other hand in the case of pupils who are scrutinized by cameras to knowing if they are concentrated or distracted is abusive monitoring because even a serious student can have a moment of disconcentration.
