INTRODUCTION

This report was written by Ade, Anthony, John, and Diallo. In our report, we will analyze two management scenarios focused on management approach called management by objective and the theory path goal theory. In scenario 1 we will answer the question why is management by objectives suitable collaborative approach to managing skilled or not workers? and explain in our own word the five steps of the MBO and their importance in this type of management. For scenario 2 we will answer why is path goal theory an appropriate and flexible approach to managing diverse team? And describe the four principal areas of this theory and some possible reasons for their use.

SCENARIO 1

WHY IS MANAGEMENT BY OBJECTIVES A SUITABLE COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO MANAGING SKILLED OR KNOWLEDGE WORKERS?

First, we need to understand what is meant by management by objectives. It is a performance management approach in which a balance is sought between the objectives of employees and the objectives of an organization. In our case, the MBO could be a good approach to managing a qualified and unqualified employee.

Now, how to deal with this approach?

First, determine or revise organizational goals, translate goals to employees, simulate employee participation in goal setting, track progress, and evaluate and reward achievements. All these steps will allow this team to be a great team. Managing a qualified and unqualified person is not easy because there is a big difference between these employees and working with someone who has no experience could be difficult, it takes patience and time.

In our junior management team there are unqualified employees, in order not to unbalance the teams, the task must be set in order of level of employees. In the hypotheses of theory X, people do not like work, so managers must control, direct, coerce and threaten employees to get them to work towards organizational goals. Collaboration is a good way to manage this kind of team because we are working with someone to produce something new, it has created a good atmosphere, there is communication that is very important in a team. MOB is a good approach for this team.

THE FIVE STAGES OF THE MBO AND THEIR IMPORTANCE IN THIS TYPE OF MANAGEMENT.

1. Define the objectives of the organization Goal setting is not only essential to the success of any business, but it also serves a variety of purposes. It should include several different types of managers in setting goals. Goals set by supervisors are tentative, based on an interpretation and assessment of what the business can and should achieve within a specified time frame.

2. Define employee goals Once employees are briefed on the overall goals, plan, and strategies to follow, managers can begin working with their subordinates on setting their personal goals. This is a one-on-one discussion where subordinate informants tell managers what their goals are and what goals they can achieve in a specific time frame and with what resources. They can then share some tentative thoughts about goals that the organization or department may find attainable.

3. Continuous monitoring of performance and progress If the approach of management by objectives is necessary to reinforce the effectiveness of the managers, it is also essential to follow the performance and the progress of each collaborator of the organization.

4. Performance evaluation as part of the MBO, the performance review is carried out with the participation of the managers concerned.

5. Provide Feedback In the management by objectives approach, the most essential step is to continue it. Constructive Feedback Constructive response is accompanied by positive intentions and is used as a supportive communication tool to address specific issues or concerns. on results and objectives, because it allows employees to monitor and make corrections to their actions. The ongoing process is complemented by formal review meetings at lower courses and lower targets can discuss progress towards targets, leading to increased efficiency.

SCENARIO 2

WHY PATH GOAL THEORY IS A SUITABLE AND FLEXIBLE APPROACH TO MANAGING A DIVERSE TEAM (GENDERS, AGE, ETHNICITY, AND SKILLS LEVEL) ?
