We will see the definition of deforestation, then the causes, then the importance

of forests on Earth, a case which found a solution, the products imported by

Europe and the possible solutions against deforestation.

The deforestation is the cutting down of trees in a large area, or the destruction

of forests by people: Deforestation is destroying large areas of tropical

rainforest.

In the world, there are forty-three (43) million hectares of forests disappeared

between twenty oh four (2004) and twenty seventeen (2017). The European

Union increased forests by 10% between nineteen ninety (1990) and twenty-two

(2020).

-The causes are industrial agriculture with the conversion of forests to cropland

is the main driver of forest loss. -Then there is urbanization with the increase in

the standard of living, and therefore the needs, of urban populations. -

Overexploitation of timber resources are linked to disadvantageous human

activities. -Climate change is a cause and consequence of deforestation. With

fires, droughts and floods, the forest is affected.

Forests are bustling centers of life. A lot of wild animals live in forests and their

habitat is destroyed due to deforestation. The forests play a central part in fixing

the CO2 that we release daily. Deforestation has many consequences on natural

ecosystems.

Deforestation mainly plays out in the Amazon, Congo and Southeast Asia. In

twenty-twenty (2020), we identified twenty-four (24) deforestation fronts

around the world.

There are many products imported into the European Union, such as palm oil

(34%), soya (32.8%), wood (8.6%), cocoa (7.5%), coffee (7%), rubber (3.4%)

and corn (1.6%).

There are solutions to fight deforestation. In early twenty-sixteen (2016),

Norway became the first country to ban deforestation. In twenty-twenty (2020),

more than hundred (100) countries committed to ending and reversing

deforestation
