Did you ever imagine being able ro communicate through thought?

First of all, I would like to outline the main points of our talk:

We are going to be talking and showing you our two picture and then we will have a little argument about our theme.

The general theme of our presentation is communication more precisely is the old and the future mode of communication.y

The theme that my picture represents is an old way of communicating.

What we have here is an old photography. It dates from nineteen sixty six (1966) and it was taken in Nambour in Australia. The picture appeared in the sunshine coast daily two years ago and I found it on the internet. It was taken by a photographer working for the newspaper.

This picture shows a group of three women, obviously telephone operators, who are working. They seem to be in their twenties. They are wearing light jackets and are sitting in front of a switchboard and the are wearing a headset. They seem to be extremely concentrated and focused on their job.

In the background of the picture we can see the electrical cord and switches that they use to establish the connection.

This picture is taken from an angle and the setting is in an old call center.

There is a contrast between the apparent tranquility of the operators and the jumble of the electrical cords.

It illustrates a period of time fifty to sixty (50-60) years ago when communication weren’t easy and phone calls had to been usually connected by operators who alway asked “ What number please”.

We don’t know the purpose of the photographer but it could be a testimony of an old way of communicating or a testimony of the beginning of the emancipation of women. Before the existence of telephones and operators, it was the time of telegrams and letters and nowadays we communicate with the help of satellites and smartphones.

And finally my first reaction when I saw the picture was admiration for the skills of these women for they incredible job. If it had been me, I would probably have mixed all the cords and I would have been fired the first day.

How do you feel about this new technology to communicate.

My feeling is that sometimes new technology isn’t a good thing.

Why do you say that in my opinion the evolution of communication is for the best. We can keep in touch with a person who can be at the other end of the world, we can speak to them really quickly with text messages and we don’t need to wait a mouth for the answer.
