History of technology

Technology first appeared in England in the 17th century, according to the “Britannica” it was used to mean a discussion of the applied arts only, and gradually these “arts” themselves came to be the object of the designation.

In the mid-century, the term technology was defined as an “activity by which man seeks to change or manipulate his environment.”

Very often the term technology was changed to a new definition. For the last century technology invaded everybody’s life in his way. Mass communication technology has made it easier than ever to connect with people. At the same time this raises the concern of whether technology has a good or bad influence on our society, is the use of technology destroying face-to-face interaction and communication between people? Back in the days people used technology as a tool for making survival an easier endeavor. Nowadays we are witnessing a shift in the role technology is playing in our society and may continue to play for generations to come. in modern-day the world technology is no longer a tool for survival, but it turned to a means of communication and entertainment.

Where ever you’re in a mall, the train station or the bus stop you can see how people are connected to each other using different types of electronic devices. However, technology has also caused us some troubles. Its poor application has resulted into the pollution of the environment and it has also cause serious threat to our lives and society. The biggest problem people are facing is to determine the type of future we need to have to be able to create relevant technologies which will simplify the way we do things.

It is quite impossible to explore how advanced technology has impacted our lives and how it will in the future. Technology impacts the environment, people and the society as a whole. The way people use technology determines if the impact on the society are positive or negative. A positive impact can be using corn to produce ethanol and this ethanol cab be used as fuel. Fuel can be used to run machines and cars which will increase on output of manufacturing industries at a lower cost. A negative impact is if we decide to shift large quantities of corn to fuel production from food production, humans will be left with no food and this will cause world hunger which even be a worse situation (relation,2017).
