In the United Kingdom, many employees are working more than 48 hours a week, actually they are 3.3 million. The principal reason is the economic crisis. Indeed, employers prefer asking their employees to work more than hiring new staff.
To counter this, the “35 hours per week” is conceivable, people are for, or against.
The “35h per week” could resolve many employees’ problems, so these latter are for this new working hours. First, because their mind and physical health are in danger. Then, because of these working hours, employees can’t go to the doctor because when they finish working, doctors have finished too. Moreover, because of all these things, employees’ stress is growing in a significant way.
The Men’s Health Forum is fighting for employees’ rights, its arguments are that the fact of working 48 hours per week is not covered by the law and then that employees cannot go to the doctor because of their working hours.
Doctors are obviously on employees’ side. Indeed, because these latter’s working hours, doctors are obligated to have flexible working hours, otherwise employees’ health would be in danger. These flexible working hours obligate doctors to work later.
To finish, the Trades Union Congress is obviously fighting for the employees because it represent employees’ rights.
If there are people for the “35 hours per week”, there are, of course, people who are against this working hour.
Actually, there is only one: employers. Indeed, because of the economic crisis, they don’t want to hire new people because it would cost a lot, whereas make employees already settled work longer don’t cost so much. Moreover, there is no time which would be lost at searching new staff, making job interviews…
To conclude, we can say that people who are for the “35 hours per week” are carrying about employees’ health, they must be listened by the following people: employers, who are against this working hour and only carrying about their money.
